Colle del Melogno - Finale Ligure

        We depart a little sooner today a of the usual one, we take for Saluzzo, Savigliano, Mondovì and we stop there for the first coffee of the day.

        We leave again toward Vicoforte and we surpass his sanctuary continuing for Ceva.

            From where we attach the Alps maritime, crossing the tall valley of the Tanaro and reaching the country of Bagnasco, abandons here her valley and we take in direction of the Hill of the Giovetti (912 ms. s.l.m.).   

            Today it is a bare place and for nothing valorized but you has had his moment of notoriety in the years between 1792 and 1796, in how much it belonged to a line of fortifications to defense of the border Sabaudio with the Republic of Genoa, that they were conquered by the French army April 15 th 1796 and destroyed.  

        From the Giovetti we go down in the fund valley through a road first hold and flood of curves and then very wide (9 ms.) in proximity of the country of Calizzano in the tall Val Bormida.  

        Reaches the country, we restart to climb for the Hill of the Melogno (1028 ms. s.l.m.), very beautiful the road for curves and against-curves and the due clear-dark color to the woods that coast along it, this however  forces not to a certain caution for to momentarily remain dazzled by the sun.  

        Arrived in top covers her is to take the nth coffee mandatory! and to admire the bunker erect among 1883 and 1895 to defense of the pass for a hypothetical unloading on the coasts liguri, what we see is the strong Central but if we looked more aloft we will see also the strong Tortagna and the Settepani.  

        We don't have however to forget us to see where absorbed are or the government Forest of the Melogno, a vast area forest that - together with the Woods of Montenotte and to the government Forest of the Cadibona - it contributes in conclusive way the rich wooded patrimony that makes of the Valley Bormida one of the woodiest areas in Italy.  

        And' characterized from trees of tall stem and from the presence of beautiful faggete that can easily be admired crossing the tall Street of the Liguri Mountains. In fact good part of the run of the tall Street unties him near the Hill of the Melogno through the homonym faggetes in a practically deprived line of difficulty of sort, that allows to fully enjoy of the show of the nature.  

         The standstill is also brief for the due cold to the clash of the two tides of air (mountain against sea). we Proceed insofar toward the coast until to enter to Final Ligure.

        To return back we coast along the sea up to Borghetto and from here we divert for the inside toward the caves of Toirano, we overcome the site and we begin to climb for wide and beautiful curves up to the Saddle of Alzabecchi; the road damps a few her inclination and the panorama it opens up to the Yoke of Toirano where we cross and we go down through dense woods until in her basin of Calizzano.  

        Reached the small center we divert it pours our left and we begin to climb a steep wall that brings us in Piedmont and to the hill Quazzo from where crossing a sanctuary mariano we go down in Garessio.

        Now always the usual road of the val Tanaro the cuneese and house!
