ROUTE   NAPOLEON

This year with the friends of the motoclub we decide of to cross the tracks of Napoleone; we want to cross the road that has brought him from the exile in the Elba to Paris.

For the beauty and the convenience we will refer the south part or from Digne to the sea, and we will reenter after having sojourned in the splendid Antibes crossing the sinuous hill of the Turiń

Route   Napoleon   south departs

282  km.

Departed soon the morning on the we reach Claviere where we have appointment with the group; the Val Chisone, approves the time, it is desert and the hill of the Sestriere welcomes us with the sun that rises among the tops.

We don't waste time because the air is fizzy, we go down to Cesana we do the full one and we salt to Claviere where, joined with the others, there let's dedicate to a abundant breakfast!

We leave again to the time of the Monginevro and we quickly go down in France where we aim for Embrun and her lake, and thanks to the little traffic, let's arrive quickly enough! We continue up to Savine and from here let's take for the south slope of the lake that, to my opinion, is the most beautiful! We climb over therefore the ridge and we go down in the second branch of the lake that we go up again up to his tributary, the stream Ubaye.

Now we don't remain but to arm us of patience and to begin to climb over the various valleys that divide us from Digne! The road is beautiful and sinuous, it unties him among woods and pinete and every ridge it has a small hill that quickly we surpass, in the following order: the hill de Maure and de Labouret. We meet various countries until to finally arrive in the valley of Digne and enter country for a good lunch!

Left again after the lunch we finally take the route Napoleon, the road the first piece is very beautiful a lot of breadth she leaves then the place to a' infinity of curves more narrow than they are inserted first in holds throats and then on steep highlands: be easily understood that are in the zone of the Verdon! In fact in breve are to Castellane!

However instead of directing I pour us the famous throats (as 3 years ago!) we continue toward south toward Grasse, that reach only after having crossed a pair of necks and a' ample valley that divides the hinterland from the mountains of the coast.

Grasse it is a splendid famous city for his manufacturing firms of perfumes, but for us he means to have ended to make curves and beautiful roads! We tabulate there in the traffic of the by now near coast and industriously we reach the splendid Antibes where we will pass it night.

Hill   of   Turiń

260  km.

We depart without hurry among the city traffic of the coast and after being escaped Nice, we take for the hinterland to visit the magnificent country of St. Paul. Distant give origins mediovali its historical center is castled on a hold hill encircled by boundaries that it has of it characterized all of his development; instead it is nowadays a whole small shops that him they lean out on a maze of lanes in which, in some lines, he doesn't pass placed side by side, and that quickly they almost climb him toward the summit to look for the small place of the church where they also rest the reliques of this local saint.

After this beautiful visit we go up again in motion and we aim the mountains behind of us; let's coast along her up to go down in the valley of the Var that we quickly go up again crossing the government rapids, we surpass the center of the Roquette where we have sojourned last time and we leave the valley of the Var to cross the beautiful and sinuous throats of the Vesubie that, with continuous curves, they bring us up to Lantosque where the scaling we begin to the Turiń.

Unfortunately the road is a few damp for the trails rains and doesn't allow us to fully enjoy the curves, but ago yes that we are able however to admire the splendid panorama of the mountain until to reach the top! The descent is long even more and the 23 kms that separate us from Sospel seem do never end, but here the sun helps us and the last piece is a pleasure among asphalt dry and wide curves!

To Sospel we consume the lunch among other friends bikers and then, unfortunately we leave again this, turns homeward! We salt the hill de Brouis and we go down to Breil or in val Roja; it is begun to feel the traffic of the reentry, the cars increase and sadly enter Italy from the hill of Tenda!

By now nothing again we go down to Borgo, and therefore Cuneo finally the usual road crossed endless times up to house!
